CO2 laser head is a core component used in CO2 lasers, widely used in materials processing, medical surgery, laser cutting, laser engraving and other fields. CO2 laser is a gas laser that uses carbon dioxide gas as the laser medium, with a wavelength typically of 10.6 microns, in the infrared band.
Main components
●Laser tube: usually a glass or ceramic tube filled with a mixture of CO2 gas inside. When the current passes through the laser tube, gas molecules are excited, producing a laser beam.
●Optical lenses: including a total reflection mirror and an output mirror. The total reflection mirror reflects the laser beam back into the laser medium, and the output mirror allows a portion of the laser beam to pass through to form a laser output.
●Cooling system: CO2 laser generates a large amount of heat during operation, and the cooling system (usually water-cooled or air-cooled) is used to maintain the working temperature of the laser head and ensure stable operation of the laser.
●Adjustment mechanism: including focal length adjustment and beam calibration mechanism, used to precisely adjust the focus and direction of the laser beam to achieve the best processing effect.
●Control circuit: used to control the working status of the laser head, including the adjustment of parameters such as power supply, pulse frequency, output power, etc.
The basic steps for assembling CO2 laser heads
Step1-Installing laser tubes:
①Fixed laser tube bracket: Install the laser tube bracket on the main body of the laser head to ensure it is secure.
②Installation of laser tube: Place the laser tube on the bracket, adjust the position to ensure that the laser tube is horizontal, and then fix the laser tube. Be careful not to apply too much force to avoid damaging the laser tube.
Step2-Installing optical lenses:
①Installation of total reflector: Install the total reflector at one end of the laser tube, ensuring that the mirror surface is clean, dust-free, and accurately positioned. Use adjustment screws to adjust the angle of the reflector so that it is parallel to the axis of the laser tube.
②Install output mirror: Install the output mirror on the other end of the laser tube, ensuring that the mirror surface is clean and accurately positioned. Adjust the angle of the output mirror to accurately output the laser beam.
Step3-Connecting the cooling system:
①Install cooling water pipe: Connect the cooling water pipe to the inlet and outlet of the laser tube, ensuring that the connection is firm and leak free.
②Connect the cooling device: Connect the other end of the cooling water pipe to the cooling device (such as a water cooler or air cooler) to ensure that the cooling system is working properly.
Step4-Install the adjustment mechanism:
①Focus adjustment: Install a focus adjustment mechanism to adjust the focus position of the laser beam. Adjust to the appropriate focal length according to specific application requirements.
②Beam calibration: Install a beam calibration mechanism to accurately adjust the direction and position of the laser beam, ensuring that the laser beam can be accurately focused on the target position.
Step5-Connect the control circuit:
①Power connection: Connect the laser head to the control circuit and power supply to ensure correct connection.
②Control parameter setting: Set the working parameters of the laser head through the control circuit, including current, voltage, pulse frequency, and output power.
Step6-Debugging and Testing:
①Preliminary test: In low-power mode, conduct a preliminary test to check whether the various functions of the laser head are working properly.
②Calibration beam: Use a target board or other calibration tools to adjust the optical lens and adjustment mechanism to ensure accurate focusing and direction of the laser beam.
③Full power test: After confirming that all parameters are normal, gradually increase the power and conduct a full power test to ensure that the laser head can work stably at high power.
Step7-Safety inspection:
①Check connections: Ensure that all connectors and fasteners are secure and not loose.
②Check the cooling system: Ensure that the cooling system is working properly and there is no water leakage.
③Safety protection: Confirm that the safety protection measures of the laser head are in place to prevent laser radiation from harming operators.
Step8-Final assembly and installation:
①Install protective cover: Install the protective cover of the laser head in place to prevent dust and debris from entering.
②Fixed laser head: Install the assembled laser head onto the laser cutting equipment to ensure it is firmly fixed.
